Village History & Gallery
Founded in 1913, the Village of Melrose, Wisconsin, is nestled in the heart of Black River Country. Just 40 miles northeast of La Crosse, Melrose is a close-knit community with a population of 544 residents. Despite its small size, the village offers a wealth of recreational opportunities, local businesses, and essential services.
The Melrose Recreation Department manages two parks, a volleyball court, a swimming pool, and multiple baseball diamonds, providing ample outdoor activities for residents and visitors alike.
The Water and Sewer Departments oversee advanced wells, water treatment facilities, and a historic water tower, ensuring reliable service. Our dedicated part-time police officers, volunteer fire department, and first responders are committed to safety and community well-being.
Additionally, a variety of local businesses, churches, and a Post Office serve the needs of our residents.
Free from gridlock traffic, industrial pollution, and the noise of big city life, Melrose offers a welcoming atmosphere where friendliness makes up for its small size. Come live, work, or visit — we'd love to have you!
