Street Department

The Melrose Street Department maintains nearly 3 ¾ miles of roads within the Village limits. Village employees perform maintenance on roads during the Summer months and plow snow during the Winter months.

Street Lights and Signs

In addition to street maintenance, the Village maintains signs and street lights. If you notice a street light that is out of order or a sign in disrepair, contact the Village.

Sidewalk Snow Removal

Village of Melrose Ordinance 11.60 (3) (b) requires owners or occupants of residential properties located within the Village of Melrose to “remove snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours of the cessation of any snowfall…” In the event that owners/occupants do not comply within 24 hours of receipt of a complaint notice, the Village Board shall cause the removal of the snow and ice from said sidewalk and assess a special tax pursuant to Sec. 66.615, Stats.

ATVs may be used for snow removal in the Village provided you comply with certain restrictions.  See the attachment to view ATV snow removal rules (ATV's & Snow Removal Information).

Alternate Side Parking

Alternate Side Street Parking begins each year on December 1st and ends on March 31st. Park on even numbered days beginning at midnight on the east and south sides of streets. On odd numbered days, park on the west and north sides of streets.
